You can't beat the string. About a metre and a half in length. Walk backwards (careful where you go), with the end of your string in your hand. Your cat will go for it with such energy and excitement. The reasons I suggest walking backwards is that you need to keep an eye on your cat incase the string accidentally wraps around its paws or neck as you pull. Or you can run forward up the stairs (but you must always keep your eyes on the cat). The cat will be your best friend for life if you do this as often as possible.
The only other game I can suggest is to collect a week's worth of newspapers and put each page (which is a lot) gently on his/her head as if you were playfully burying the thing. The cat will attack and rip the paper and love it. Expect a mess with this one so try this in a quiet spare room.
Hope this helps!

My cat hasnt ever been very playful at all, but whenever I go to my sisters house I always just use a string of yarn and play with her cats. They love it and its really fun to watch them. Sometimes I'll take a little toy mouse or a ball nd tie it to the end of a string of yarn and they'll play with that too.

IMine like the fishing game. It's where you have a long stick with a string on the end, attached to the string is a toy of some sort.... we've used feathers, toy mice & our bought one had a toy fish.
They jump & dive & race around after it. I like it too - I don't get scratched by any over enthusiastic claws.
Only sometimes have problems - one of them gets the toy in her teeth & won't let go or the string or stick breaks.
PS I also play fetch with them & chase the torch light up & down the hall way.

Hi Jasmine,
a good way to play with your cat is to get a string and drag it around the room.Or go to a nearby dollar store and get some catnip or string toy from there.

My cats love to chase after crumpled paper balls, the dot from my laser pointer, string, and one cat loves to wrestle with my hand - he'll pounce on my hand and wrap his legs around my arm and "attack" me. Also, empty boxes or large paper bags are heaven for them, especially if I scratch the side of the box or bag with my fingernail.

Housecats love to be stalked. Go outside the room, and peek around the corner. When your cat sees you back away so you can't see her. Repeat, but be ready for her to pounce on you.
