We are thinking about purchasing a tv, but we do not know which is better, the plasma or lcd? I want to know if the plasma tv holds up as well as an lcd tv. It appears to me the lcd tv has a very sharp and clear picture, which I like very much. Thank you for whatever information you can give me.

At the moment there are neither plasma nor lcd TV available, that have the picture quality of a TV of the "old fashioned kind", if it's one with 100 Hz and not only 50 Hz.

My advice would therefore be to keep your old TV until in perhaps 2 years the quality of plasma and lcd TVs will have improved. By then you will also be able to see broadcasts in High Definition standard, and from that you can profit only with LCD or plasma TVs. Which way is better depends much on the size of the screen, at least at the moment it's so.

LCD - preferably one from Sony.

If you want a plasma, then Pioneer Elite is the choice.

I def would go with the plasma... Check this out, my friend filled out his zip code, and a few extra steps... he won a plasma tv!
I dont know what the chances are, but they seem decent.
