my girlfriends family has always had pugs, and they usually get them 2 at a time. i bet they'll be very happy to have a friend with them, but, when they're brought up together, they tend to get lonely any time the other dog isnt there. if a dog is raised by itself (like my aunt's pug, Buttons, lol) they're usually ok.
if you're not home much, i'd get 2 i think. make sure that the pugs arent overbred though, pugs can have heart problems, and breathing problems if they're not adding in pugs to breed from other stables.

If you aren't home alot, then you shouldn't be gettng a dog. Two will be at least 3 times the work and leaving them together alone during the day is a recipe for disaster. Toy breeds need someone around during the day. If you can't be there to let them out and play with them every 3 or 4 hours, then it's really not a good idea to have one. Pugs are family dogs and people dogs. They need to be around their owners for more than a few hours at night. Yours is really not an ideal situation for a pug. Has the breeder gone over this with you? If she hasn't, then it's time to find a new breeder. I wish I had better news for you!

Two dogs is better than one if you plan on being gone most of the day. It's just not right to leave a dog by itself for 6-8 hours alone per day. We started with one, then eventually picked up another and are 100% happy that we did. Our first dog is sooo much happier now. I installed doggy doors so they can roam freely inside and out but block them off so they can only go to the kitchen when inside the house. This way when it rains (they dont care for rain anyways) cleanup is a snap.
If you are like us, you'll have a hard time trying to keep from getting another!

I don't know where you live, but there are many places that offer Doggie DayCare. I used to take my Chinese Crested there a few times a week just to give her an opportunity to play with the other dogs. It wasn't expensive, and she LOVED it. Why don't you check in your area and see if there is someone who offers that? A good place to ask is at a groomers.

if your not home alot during the day its not a good idea to get any kind of dog...they need constant attention while they r young..they neep house broke and they chew stuff. unless you plan on keeping in one of those crates, which ithink is a bad idea.

first of all learn how to spell. and i think getting another dog will just make it worse because you're going to have to clean double the mess. and i think you shouldn't even get one because you're never going to be home.. so why put the dog in a boring house?

i don't think its a big issue...you can make a chain in the yard and let it run around...my dog stays in a crate for most of the day and when i get back i let it out and we play with it....

It would, but when you are home, be prepared to spend lots of time with them. You may also want to think of the damage they may cause while you're not home. May sure they have plenty of toys.

Please don't get a dog unless you can spend at least 5 hours a day with him. They do get bored and chaining or crating a dog is mean. Get a cat.
