Why remove a wisdom tooth?

http://www.members.aol.com/swf08302/wizdk.jpg shows one reason. This is what can happen by the time you are 40 or 50 if you leave a wisdom tooth in place when it is impacted. The red arrows on the x-ray show the grey area that has decayed due to the wisdom tooth being present under the gum. The tooth shown is the exact same tooth shown in the x-ray, but turned so you can see the cavity. Food and bacteria can get down there and you can't clean it out. Eventually, it makes a cavity in the tooth next to the wisdom tooth and makes it so you have to have BOTH teeth removed.

You should probably talk to your dentist about this but I had impacted wisdom teeth and that means that your wisdom teeth are growing where theyre not supposed to. They may be growing sideways into your other molars and if they continue to move they will move those teeth around and could cause much more trouble, it could even make your whole line of teeth crooked.

If you wait too long, they will mess up all the rest of your teeth. And they will be much harder to remove. I don't like surgery, but I had my wisom teeth removed and I think it was a good choice.

P.S. Silver fillings are made of toxic mercury, FYI. The ADA lies about this... get them out!

Get them removed. My sister had the same and they needed to be removed. Impacted is not good and as far as I know they may only cause you further problems as the years progress.

Your dentist is a wise man. If he's been telling you that for
a decade, I'd say it's high-time you heed his advice -- and
face the music of the molar removal.
You'll soon enough be singing a very happy song, called
"No Novocaine, No Gain!"

Best of heath & luck.

If they are going to bother you, then have them removed.
But since you have survived the discomfort this long and rather be in pain than to be free of pain, then just keep them. But I would rather be pain free.

if they are bothering you then i would say yes. mine are still impacted but they don't bother me. they can cause infection if not treated and can start to effect your other teeth
