NYC has completely outlawed the personal use of fireworks, and it's a zero tolerance matter. You won't ever be let off with just a warning. It's an arrest and prosecute matter.

If you get caught with fireworks (any kind .. sparklers, firecrackers, rockets, fireworks) in NYC, you will arrested and the least that will happen to you is that you will get a $750 mandatory fine. Get caught a second time and it's a felony charge.

If you get caught with them in your car or if the NYPD believes that you used your car to transport the fireworks into NYC, everyone in the vehicle will be arrested, fined and the vehicle will be seized. You will not get it back. It won't matter that you borrowed your parents car, you friends car, etc. Kiss it goodbye.

It is absolutely illegal. The city no longer even allows firecrackers to be set off during the official Chinese New Year's celebration in Chinatown.

A few years ago you would most likely have been fined for setting off fireworks in Central Park, these days I can pretty much guarantee you will be arrested and made an example of.

Do yourself a favor, and don't do it.

Illegal.

ILLEGAL.

even bigger Illegal if I could type it bigger.

Fireworks can very often cause fires. The trees in Central park are stressed enough, why expose them to fire, too.

And.... you never know who is going to sit someplace when the stuff comes down. Sometimes still hot and it could hit a baby or an animal or land on a roof and cause fires, etc.

Just forget about fireworks in NYC. Even the city uses the water only when setting off fireworks.

You could rent a boat and row to the middle of the harbor ?

but then the would still get after you.

Illegal !!!!

No, its is illegal.
You would go to jail for less time if you were caught with and using drugs in Central Park than if you were caught with and/or using Fire Works.

I was doing tiling and scrubbing grout in my friend's basement. We had chips and beer for diner and were just hanging out scrubbing tile grout. It was actually pretty fun. And both of us having a family history of the British Empire, we were joking in our fake English accents about the 4th of July.
