Getting cold sores has absolutely nothing to do with being clean. Cold sores are caused by one of two things - a Vitamin D deficiency, or Herpes Simplex, which is a virus that has no cure. You can treat cold sores with either "home remedies", like dabbing on Spirits of Camphor (available cheaply in any pharmacy), over-the-counter medicines (like Abreva, also available in any pharmacy, but usually pretty expensive), or prescription drugs from a doctor. If the cold sore is a result of a vitamin deficiency, your doctor may advise a change in your diet - but eating more citrus fruits is common sense for anybody. If the cold sore is due to the presence of the Herpes Simplex virus (which a test from your doctor can establish), there is no cure - only treatment when "break-outs" occur - and you will have to deal with this for the rest of your life (unless a cure is found). You may find that outbreaks occur more often when you are under a lot of stress, are run down/tired, or generally not taking such good care of yourself, so, if this is the case, try to take steps to improve your overall health and the outbreaks should become fewer and more far between. Bottom line is, have a doctor diagnose the cause, and then you can choose the treatment from a more informed position.

I'ts nothing to do with cleanliness.
Cold Sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex virus which can be passed from another person that carries the virus through kissing usually. Sometimes when you are a child, the virus lies dormant but can travel aling nerves in the face to cause sores on the mouth/ lips nose and even in some people the eyes
Stress tends to make them come on as can exposure to strong sunlight. Once you have the virus you have it for life I'm afraid, you need to avoid kissing anyone when you have an open sore.
Use Zovirax from the chemist (you can buy cheaper chemists own versions) when you first get the tingle to let you know you are getting one, it can be really effective.
Hope this helps!

Cold sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex virus and you catch this usually when you are a baby and someone with a cold sore kisses you. It lies dormant in your body and never goes away for the rest of your life. If you don't have the virus you will never get a cold sore but if you do then you will from time to time. The best treatment is anything containing aciclovir or peniclovir such as Zovirax. They appear usually at this time of year because our immune systems are compromised due to feeling run down and or colds. Try to eat plenty fruit and veg and keep your immune system going. Early nights and less stress should keep them at bay. Also - don't kiss any babies!

You probably got them from a family member or bf/gf at some point. Cold sores are a form of the Herpes virus, and should be treated with caution as they can cause genital herpes on your partner. There are many over the counter creams and ointments you can use, but most just moisturize and ease the stinging sensation. Ideally you should use an anti-viral cream such as Zovirax. It's very expensive in the States, but can be purchased online for less than $10, and it works great! good luck!

It's nothing to do with cleanliness...don't panic. Everyone carries the strain of herpes (and that's not as hideous as it sounds) virus which can cause cold sores...some people are more afflicted than others. In cold weather due to chapped, dry and cracked lips they can crop up....just use a good cold sore treatment. Blisteze also do a lip cream for chapped lips which helps to suppress them once they have gone..keeps your lips moist too...also don't overdo lip balm...that can have a detrimental effect.

Cold sores, commonly called canker sores, are caused by the same virus that causes herpes. Your physician can prescribe a medication called Zovirax which comes in pills and ointment. The pills have a generic brand which can be purchased at Walmart for $4.00, but unfortunately the ointment is name brand and pretty expensive.

Almost everybody has the virus which causes cold stores in their body at all times. What makes them appear is a deficiency in a certain vitamin (not sure which one) found in leafy green veggies. It's no big deal unless you have reason to believe it's an STD of course.

Valtrex is a prescription medication prescribed for the treatment of genital herpes, cold sores and herpes zoster. A herpes infection is irritating, painful and has a huge impact on the quality of your life. People suffering from this viral infection have literally felt a few days being taken away from their lives.
The active ingredient in Valtrex, valacyclovir is a pro-drug. Meaning, when it's administered to the patient, its form is less active as compared to the active form of other medications. A pro-drug becomes active as soon as it's inside the patient's body. So, when valacyclovir is inside your body, it metabolizes into its active form, namely acyclovir. The action of acyclovir has been seen to be effective against most of the viruses that are a part of the herpes virus family including herpes simplex virus type 1(HSV-1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) and also the herpes zoster virus.
The action of Valtrex helps block the working of DNA polymerase, a viral enzyme. This enzyme is needed by the herpes virus to replicate genetic material; multiply and spread the infection from one part of the body to another. By inhibiting the function of DNA polymerase, this medication prevents the herpes virus infection from multiplying and spreading. So, the body's immune system is able to cope better with the virus as compared to the system dealing with the virus without the help of the medication. The objective of Valtrex is to help control the infection.

It's in the treatment of herpes labialis as well as herpes infections in people with cancer. The evidence to support the use of aciclovir in primary herpetic gingivostomatitis is less strong.

It has nothing to do with your cleanliness it is a bacterial infection the( herpes viral) that causes the cold sores..
You need to get a proprietary brand of cream from the chemist.
