I'm a smoker, but I understand your concern. I also have an eight month old daughter. Although I know the effects of second hand smoke on her, and the possible health risks for my self, I am simply addicted to smoking. I used to be addicted to other things so I tell myself that I am doing the best that I can. Understand if you can that your mom loves you and is probably addicted to smoking herself. Unfortunately addiction is such a powerful thing that it takes precedence over how much you love others, yourself, or God. Try writing a letter to your mom with your feelings and concerns and put it in a loving card or give it to her with a flower. It probably won't get her to stop smoking, but it will most likely open the door for the two of you to talk about it.

No one can make her quit except her.
But you can tell her you love her and want her to stop. You can tell her you do not like the smoke in the house and you worry about her health. Play it up.
She feels she is the adult and can do as she pleases. What she does not realize is that she is affecting the health of her kids with secondhand smoke.
All you can do it try. Never give up talking to her about it. The patches work good and she should try them. But unfortunately, some never want to quit and you cant help them.

My sister in law smoked and told her kids not to smoke and they didn't, but she continued into her seventies. She was a registered nurse and knew the dangers of smoking but refused to stop.
The best you can do is just to tell her that you and the family are worried about her, but the choice in the end is still going to be hers. I always say, it's your life and if you want to commit suicide that's your choice, but it's a shame since I love you and would like to have you around as long as I can.
Also be aware that second hand smoke is also dangerous to those around you.

She is your mom and nothing is wrong telling her not to smoke. And when she is in good mood softly tell her that you care about herhealth. And tell her it is harmful not only to the person who smokes but also to the persons around her too.

just tell her very calmly that it is your business
because it concerns your well-being as well as hers.
just sit her down and have some "real talk."
muster up the courage to ask her first of all
does she want to stop and if so,
how far is she willing to go? I'm pretty sure at Johns Hopkins.com, they have some tips about how to ask hard questions.

Tell her what she is putting you at risk for. Make it a little research project, show her pictures. Then tell her if she doesn't want to stop for her own health, then at least go outside so she doesn't affect you.

well i think its not easy to quit ,so dont expect her to stop smikong just when you tell her...maybe you can tell her to make it less if she's a heavy smoker..but the rest is really up to her as long as she doesnt want to quit ,you can do nothing ..dont worry .
