Hog Wash! pun intended. The only thing that happens is it looses quality from so called "fresh". If you knew what bacon went through before it got into that neat plastic package, and sausage for that matter, we would eat Oatmeal 24/7. Tell the people the truth FDA. Anybody have any brown sugar? need to kick up this Oatmeal

If it's raw, and it's been frozen once, don't re-freeze it. Aside from the possibility of illness, the bacon just won't taste (or look) good.

If you've thawed bacon, but you're not using it all, just cook what you've got, then freeze the cooked product. Actually, what I usually do is buy a pound of fresh bacon (not the packaged stuff, but the kind they sell out of the butcher case at the supermarket). I'll cook ALL of it, until it's not quite crispy. Then I'll allow it to drain on some newspaper (covered in paper towels), and I'll roll up the slices inside some waxed paper, keeping a layer of waxed paper between each slice of bacon, so they don't stick together. When I need a slice (or 2 or 3) of bacon, I'll just unroll what I need, and I'll have intact slices. Since it's sliced thin, it will only take a few moments to heat through.

A big no-no. Cook it up for bacon bits.

General rule for anything: Once its defrosted, cook it and eat it. You can re-freeze things after they're cooked too.

Yes. Refreezing raw meat will make it taste terrible.
