What exactly is the Barefoot Contessa's defining characteristic supposed to be? I mean, what sort of cooking does she specialize in? Also, what's with her name? And why is she so freakin fat? She needs liposuction.

She makes many good recipes...and is more into entertaining and getting parties together....She is not more fatter than others...No one goes around telling you to get a life attitude change...although they might should...there is no reason for hateful remarks like that...yes she might be overweight...but no reason to call her "freakin fat" ...Everyone has a deformity of some kind...wether it be overweight...or racist...or stupidity...or hey even a bad speller like me...but why make oneself look even worse by remarks like that...hey this is my opinion...I personally don't watch her much..but alot of ppl find her entertaining..

First of all her name is Ina Garten Second of all; what difference does it make what somebody looks like. She happens to be very talented in her field. She started in the political field working in Washington DC when she graduated from college but needed something more fulfilling in a career. She started in the food business as a caterer, made a great success at that, sold that business to a friend and now prepares food on the food network and her own personal enjoyment.

That is not her name. I forget her name but they always tell on the shows. She started as a caterer and then owned some food establishment in the Hamptons! Doesn't matter anyway, the people who live in the Hamptons are so filthy rich they don't have to work anyway! If you ate all that rich food with little or no excercise you'd be slightly over weight also!

Her real name is Ina Garten. I believe she is in the Rachael Ray category - meaning, she doesn't specialize in any certain type of food or region (e.g. French, American, etc.), but she is portrayed as the every day, but elegant cook on Food Network. The reason I compare her to Rachael Ray is because neither one is a chef by training, but they have learned the art of cooking through other means, and this alone has made them special in their own rights. Ina used to work for somone on Capitol Hill before she started to follow her passion for cooking as a career.
She is no bigger than Paula Deen, frankly, who has no shame with using butter and pig fat in nearly everything. If you watch what Ina cooks, she cooks healthy meals for the most part, and occasionally does a lower fat dish. I think she's bigger mostly because of her lifestyle, but hey...she's getting PAID, and she loves it. 95% of us wish we could say the same, so I think negative comments are just hate.

I don't really watch her show a lot but she definately seems to be into entertaining guests. As far as the fat comment goes, the world would be a boring place if we all looked alike. Not everyone wants to be size 1.

She's in to partying and entertaining. She is a little too overboard. I just turned her off because she was making some pecan bars with like 2 1/2 lbs of butter, 1 1/2 lbs brown sugar, cup of honey; just couldn't take it.
