The fact that people don't question what they are told. They say they think about it, but they think about from the perspective that they have been taught is the "true" perspective. As long as the idiot who makes a statement can even remotely back it up with a bible verse, it doesn't matter what he says.

I think there are 4 parts, or times:
1. When religion is politicized and gets into the free affairs of a country. Then you get forced belief (Islamic tyrannies), or the inquisition or a holy war, jihad.
2. When it is communicated as fact, when it is faith. Then people get polarized and try to force their beliefs on others. This is an issue of leadership, or demagoguery.
3. When a country and its people forget to allow for the free expression of religion, and take rights away. Then religion begins to fight for its life. This is going on in America. Our original foundation is perceived as being eroded.
4. When a country and its people infringe upon the beliefs of religious people, and try to make everyone the same. Some of what is being taught in school does not align with the religious beliefs of some people. This causes polarization. Should the puritans sail to another free country again. That country used to be America. And I do not think they should. Religion must be kept out of national government. And national government, ought to be kept out of the decisions and beliefs and diversity of people and commmunities. The school that the community pays for it ought to teach the values and culture of the people who live there, for it is their community, and they pay for it, and we should allow for the free expression of religion. This is not a separation of church and state issue, though it has wrongly been made into one.
Basically, there are issues on both sides, both secular and religious.
Take care!
Edit: I should have noted that vouchers are another way to protect religious rights.

the most dangerous thing in the world is an idea, and that is what religion is, someone's idea of how to make sense of the world and someone's idea that will just happen to control the masses
parts of religion are not dangerous, the whole of it is.

The concept that they hold THE Truth. That implies the others are wrong. And from this, a variety of dangerous conducts are derived. These go from despising a person for being wrong, to killing them for that reason.

The dangerous part is when religious leaders try to speak on behalf of God. I find that to be morally repugnant that another human should try to place him or herself in between me and God and tell me what he or she thinks the will of God means in my life. That is how wars and violent acts in the name of God get started. God never tells people to kill each other. It is always someone saying that God says so. It's a lie.

the followers--they have this "so sayeth the shepherd, so sayeth the flock" mentality going on, and it's dangerous for themselves to let one very human leader have that much control over their thoughts, and also potentially dangerous to the world if those in control decide to use them as a weapon or tool

The fact that the children born into such an environment are so brainwashed that they might never realize the truth. It is such a travesty to humanity.

Human error. The biggest danger is that one will be led astry by the false doctrine or teaching of a misguided ( although possibly well meaning) person and will miss the whole point God was tryig to get across. The blind leading the blind syndrome.

Most dangerous is cults.
Having a good minster is very important.
I don't join anything anymore, no religion or church, I just go to what ever church I feel like going to, God is in them all. Or where ever God leads me to go.

trying to force a particular belief system down the throats of others simply because of the attitude " my Religion is the only right one so since I know what is best for everyone you must do it my way or else. " this attitude gives everyone a bad name in my opinion
