On my computer my USB ports are not working, and I get an error that I am missing dc120usd.dll file. If I put windows xp and ran system restore and restore it to when it was fairly new will that restore the missing dll file, if not how can I restore that file?

You can reload the file from your win98 CD using the expand command. Upgrading to WinXP may not be feasible as your computer is probably not powerful enough to handle XP. You need a cpu of 800 mhz or better (yes it will run on a slower one but slow is the operative word), a minimum of 20G free space on your hard drive - again, more is better, and at least 256M ram. It will work on 128 but slowly. A Win98 computer would usually have 64M ram and 128 if it was boosted plus the CPUs were either P1 or P2.

ideally a system restore should work as when you create a restore point all your desktop settings, dll files, environment settings are saved in that restore point..if it still does'nt work backup your data on that drive on which the OS is installed and go for a fresh install of windows XP

There are places you can download dll files for free. if you dont want to do that and want to upgrade to windows xp, i recommend that you install a clean version of xp from scratch. in the future upgrading can sometimes cause problems.
