I'm sure any charity would gladly take your dollar and spend 5 cents of it for X'mas giveaway anytime of the year.

I bet you could call your local Dept of Social Services and arrange to sponsor a foster child. Or call a local children's psychiatric hospital, I bet they would take it. (many of those kids don't have families)
