YES! omg I think its soo sweet! If a guy does that then it means they are kind and considerate and are always willing to help a girl! Will you come hold my door? ;)

Appreciate it, yes. Expect it, no. I appreciate anyone who's at the door to open it and hold it for others, regardless of gender. To me it's whomever gets to the door first should hold it for others. I'm female and I do that if I'm at the door first.

I was miffed at first when my now-husband insisted on opening doors, even my car door. But now I find it incredibly sweet and glad he was brought up right.

Chivalry is almost dead, but it's still kicking!

Yes, very much. I am a lady and I enjoy that fact very much. I know nobody is holding a door for me because they think I am too frail to do it for myself--they're doing to be nice! Who doesn't want people to be nice to them? I hold doors for people too-they really appreciate it! And I always say thanks when someone does that for me!

I think it is very worthwhile to do little things for other people just to be a bright spot in their day, whether that is holding a door, offering a smile, bringing a neighbor some cookies, or whatever! This is the kind of stuff that makes people's days nicer...a great thing to be responsible for offering someone a little lift.

I LOVE when a guy opens a door for me. It's so sweet. My husband does it about once every 4 years or so.

Indeed, I do appreciate a gentleman holding the door open - to me it shows respect for the opposite sex.

I have even held the door open for a gentleman who is walking a step or two behind me. (Like when going to the mall, grocery store, etc.)

I'm glad to see that so many women still appreciate chivalry. It warms my heart. But could you ladies please do me a favor? When a guy opens the door for you, don't put your hand out towards the door as if we're going to slam it on you. It's really actually pretty rude. We are trying to be respectful and putting your hand out disrespects us. It tells us that you think we aren't genuine, that we are only half-heartedly being gentlemen, and that you don't trust us. Please just walk through the doorway.

Thank you so much.

Yes, and I get furious at women who make it out to be a bad thing. It is always nice to be treated with respect and courtesy. It is unfortunate some women are incapable of seeing it as such. Keep opening doors it is the polite thing to do and polite is an endangered species.

Yes, it's the last remnants of an age that is unfortunately dying off. Keep holding those doors and letting girls go first!
