I'm a single female with a four month old (and exceptionally large for his age) kitten/cat. He is quite the character and provides me with endless hours of amusement and cuddling. The problem is, the past week or so, he's taken to attacking every male that enters my household, including my male housemates who've been here longer than he has! He's never bitten me (not hard, anyways. just playing stuff) but he routinely draws blood on men, unless they are much younger than I am. Is he really considering men around my age a threat to him? Any ideas how to stop this behavior?

I've tried a few things over the last week or so (squirt bottle, restraint, cage, locking him up in the other room), but I think he's just learned to growl and hiss a warning before he bites and has no intention of stopping the biting. Ideas would be greatly welcomed, before I end up paying for someone's hospital visit!

He probably can be neutered, which is a good idea regardless of how he acts towards men. I would suggest, maybe, making him interact with a man. You and a man get together with the cat, and make sure the cat won't hurt him, but make the cat see that he can trust men. Cats do prefer the company of women though, it's someting about the pitch of their voice. Cats like the highness of females voices... so maybe you could have one of your male friends talk to him like they're a girl... hehe.

He is at the age where neutering could help with this aggressive acting out. You need to really work on your kitty to teach him that it is NEVER acceptable to use his teeth or claws on a human. Many people don't realize that cats are just as capable of learning "NO" as dogs, and should know the meaning of this word. Good luck. If you can't make any headway, please consult a feline trainer.

He is trying to be the alpha male in the house, LOL. He is a little young to neuter, but talk to your vet. Maybe since he is large, they could neuter him early.

I am surprised. I would expect this behavior if he were abused but I don't think this is the case.
