For me it was when my father told me that he loved my sister more than he loved me.
Even though he said this to me over three years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday and it still hurts like hell.

Mine was something my own father said to me too:

I was 10 years old, and ran him out some lemonaid in the orchard. When he stopped to take a break, he proceeded to say:

You know what? Your just like your mother. Your going to be a drunk, be pregnant by 16 and no man will ever love you.

Well, I've beaten the odds by 2 of them anyways, I didn't have my first child tell 25, I'm not a drunk, but he is right about no one ever loving me. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

I would have to say that for me the one thing that sticks in my head, is when my mother told me that she couldn't ever see me having children. I love children and I have waited to have them so I can give the best childhood I thought I possibly could. When I asked her why she thought that, she told me because she didn't think I would do well at giving up the spot light. I am not a selfish person, and I so don't like center of attention. I was crushed when she said this to me, and just like you, it still hurts just like it was yesterday.

That my boyfriend would leave me when he got a better job. My Mom said this not too long ago. I mean, WTF? She may as well have said I'm completely worthless and not deserving of love and/or my boyfriend is too good for me. Yes, it hurts when the people who are supposed to love you more than anyone in the world, and unconditionally at that, demonstrate just the opposite. If your parents don't even find you worthy, who would you might think. I'm so sorry your Dad said that. That's a vicious thing to say.

My parents said they had my brothers to try and make up for the mistake they made with me (I was not exactly the easiest child). I think it might have been a joke, but my brothers are 9 and 11 years younger than me, and well...the joke is on them...I am still the favorite!!!

Ouch. That hurts. Please tell us he apologized? Perhaps he was just angry and didnt mean it! Parents can be irrational and stupid at times too.. I hope so, for your sake.

Mine said that I would never amount to anything.

Proving him wrong made me feel better, and whether he meant it or not, or it was just the heat of the moment... it doesnt really matter to me anymore.. because he was mistaken, and he knows it.

Took him 13 years to say he was proud of me... a little long in my book, but.. it was said and I was glad to finally hear it.

Ouch! I think that's always going to hurt. What a horrid thing for him to say!

For me, the most hurtful thing my father ever said to me was "I hate you, you little b****." He didn't mean it, of course, and apologized later. I forgave him because he was sincere and honestly couldn't help it at the time (he's bipolar) but, yes, it still hurts.

When I was 9, a couple months after my mom died, dad said "I'm sick of you little snot noses. Go live with your brothers." Never saw him (alive) again.

If you're still talking to your father, you have to sit him down and tell him how much he hurt you. He needs to know this. And then you need to let it go and be happy with who you are.
