I've tried to believe in God since I was young, but I've never been able to feel like it was anything more than pretending.

If he cares about me, and can do anything, why doesn't he show me that he is real? I've certainly asked often enough.

By the way, just so I stop getting this in every response, I have read the Bible. Many a time. I have read the Tanakh. I have read the Qu'ran. I have studied so many different religions, both with teachers and with rabbis, priests, imams, and regular followers. I have also studied as much of science as I can, and it seems like most of the mysteries that faith based texts are trying to solve have already been explained.

My point is that if God was really all-loving, he would love me enough to prove his existence to me, knowing that I am a scientific person, which implies that I am a natural skeptic.

Apparently if he revealed himself it would be against his rules. Some have said "no one wants a robot to love them... you wouldn't have a choice to believe if he showed himself, you'd have to".

Yeah.... and? I think, as a deity, I'd prefer "robot"-like belief to my creations being cast down to Hell in droves for being incapable of conceiving of something so wonky as a God.

Michael - I’m in the same boat as you. No matter what I do, I just can’t feel that certainty. No one has been able to prove to me that he doesn’t exist either though, so I can’t feel certain that there is no God. Whether you believe that there is or isn’t God, it’s faith either way. I figure, all I can do is keep searching for answers and asking questions and maybe some day the certainty will hit me one way or the other. If there is a God, he knows that I’m trying. Good luck to you.

You know God loves you very much . He tries to show you every day . You wake in the morning and you take your first breath of the day . Only God can give you that . The sun is shinning out side . Only god can give that . People are so rapped up in the material world and how much money they make and how to spend it . Look around you do you have a place to live ? Meany people don't . But God takes care of them . Be he finds them shelter or he takes them home with him . We are all part of God . .A collective source of energy . Every thing you see that is good is God . Look around again . Look for the good in people . Love is God . I am not a Bible thumpper . I don't go around asking people if God is dealing with them . You know what you do . If it is good it is God . Don't feel like your pretending . If that is true then you don't really love any one .Your pretending . If you do a nice thing for some one . Are you pretending ? I would hope not . You feel good about what you do for other people ? For your family ? For your friends ? Every day is a gift from God . He wants you to have it use it for the good . That is God . That is not pretending !

How great are you as a creation to order the God ( Creator) to appear in front of you. You will sure face the God, if you were the chosen one. Trying to believe is not enough , you have to use
your conscience to search for the truth of God's existence. It is not by your eyes to look for the God , it is your pure heart that will see the God. Most of the believers don't even meet the God, why they have such convincing faiths whereas you don't. No body ever ask the God to appear in front of them before. Are you so exceptional as compared to the people from the rest of the world. God never forced anybody to believe , you must get closer and closer to the God, only you could find the truth.

wow this could nicely be a great question. i'm no longer a spiritual individual yet i'm religious. the main suitable argument to show the life of god? religious timing is one. once you stare at somebody they're going to turn around and examine out you regardless of while you're in a crowded area; once you're thinking approximately somebody and that they call you or vice-versa; once you're are someplace and something happens, you may examine out an entire stranger and you the two will a approach or the different understand what the different is thinking and ensure it with a grin of the eyes. i think of religious timing is a god like high quality which proves that there is something greater suitable than ourselves as quickly as we decide for to renowned it. yet another is childbirth, in that transport room while the toddler comes out and takes it relatively is first breath; and provides it relatively is first smile, makes it relatively is first face...for some reason you basically understand that something greater suitable than you helped this technique, gave this existence. And the final is... at this 2nd, i'm respiratory. As I form those words, without theory or attempting i'm respiratory in a source of existence. And that source is right here without me having to artwork or pay for it. i'm residing. shifting, thinking, i'm being. Now this is the main suitable argument that there is a capacity greater suitable than us all. Now the main efficient argument that god does no longer exists....? while adult men of "God" molest infants. we expect undesirable human beings to do undesirable issues. yet while your profession is according to being god-like or the connecting element thereof and you do undesirable...you're making persons loose faith or theory in sturdy or God.

God does show Himself to you and all of us all the time. Obviously you haven't opened you heart, mind and soul up to Him yet. I'm not sure what you are praying for, but God answers our prayers in His own time and in His own way. He knows what's best for us and He gives us what we NEED, not what we WANT. Just the mere fact that you wake up every morning shows you that He exists. Without God, you would stop living. His blessings are mysterious at times. And sometimes we have to see the good that comes out of a bad situation. That goodness is God's blessing. I'm not sure what religion you were raised in or if you attend a church, but maybe you can talk to a priest or a minister and seek his guidance about finding the path to God. Good luck and I'll be praying for you.

"I just found God. He´s been where He always was. I just found God". That´s from a Mike Scott song. He´s a big hippie Scottish guy. "going..to a place that has to be believed to be seen" that´s from a u2 song. Anyway, you´ve got to exercise your faith. Faith is not rational. It´s not in the intellectual part of your brain. It´s in the part of your brain marked `faith´, the part that says ´to see god and other spiritual stuff look through here´. If you want to see god, believe in god, love god, then you can. So go ahead. It´s not magic. It´s not impossible. It´s completely, and only, within your capabilty.

You are alive today and have a house with electricity and a computer to send queries around the world and a brain with which to come up with questions to ask. What exactly would be the kind of miracle you would need to believe in that which you cannot see? What sort of vision would it take? And who are we, any of us, that we should test God? I doubt anything He could or would do would change your mind anyway. You either believe or you don't. It is a personal choice, just be sure you really know what the choice is you're making. And that you can live with it.

There is no evidence that God exists? What about your computer? With it, you can do any things, including comunicating with others, shop online and find a wealth of imformation on just about any gien topic. But did you know that your computer did not come into being on its own. It had a designer, even if you never met him. The universe is much more complex than your computer. It also had a designer even if we never met him face to face. So there is plenty of evidence that points to God. Just look around you.

It's not all about you...
Why don't you show yourself to God?
Prove to Him that you are worthy. Live a life for Him. He will show you He's real when you show Him you are ready for Him.
Get connected with a good church. Start non-demonational, learn what is right for you. Pick up a bible and really read it. Ask Him to guide you. Talk to a pastor.
He's not going to send a letter or e-mail by the way. Listen with open ears, see with open eyes. It will be in subtle ways, when you are ready to see, when you are ready to hear. He has been with you this whole time, and will be ready for you when deep down, you are ready for Him and His ways.

It would be so simple for God to convince everybody to believe in him. If Jesus or Mohammed or Moses or however was still alive today, still walking the earth, still performing miracles that could be demonstrated and verified ... then only an idiot wouldn't believe.

That God has not done something non-blind-faith'ish to prove his existence - is really strong evidence for his non-existence.

:)
