Mezzuzah, contains scroll inside, traditionally, you touch it upon entering or leaving your home, saying short prayer, asking for blessings,safety for all inside. It guards your house from bad influences entering.

it is not a door knocker it is called a mazzuha it hangs on the upper side of door with a little hand written scroll of the old testament , religous jews take thir hand kiss the fingerrs anf touch it when entering a doorway

ITS CALLED MEZUZAH,ITS A WRITTEN SCROLL THAT IS WRITTEN ON PARCHED SHEEP OR GOAT SKIN.IT IS PUT ON THE FRONT DOOR AND ALL THE ROOMS IN THE HOME EXCEPT THE BATHROOM.WHEN A PERSON ENTERS OR EXITS THE DOORWAY WHERE THE MEZUZAH IS ,WE TOUCH IT WITH OUR FINGER TIPS AND THEN KISS THE HAND THAT TOUCHED THE MEZUZAH.IT IS A PRAYER FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN JEWISH HOMES ,TO BLESS THE HOME AND THE PEOPLE FROM EVIL AND AS A RESPECT TO THE JEWISH FAITH,SHALOM AND PEACE,FROM MIKHAL IN ISRAEL.
