There are so many different versions and interpretations even between the same religion - never mind between different ones, so can we agree that those who are religious or worship god merely BELIEVE that they are correct in their convictions, rather than proposing that they KNOW. Surely two people with different beliefs can't both 'know'.

At the point of having 20 responses, may I just say a big thank-you for giving your own answers rather than quoting from a Bible, Quran, etc. I'm pleasantly surprised!

I'm an atheist. Reading all of your answers there are obviously many people who KNOW that there is a god.

My little girl knows that there is a god too - just like that there is a Santa and Unicorns and Dragons... You get the point. Apart from that all my friends, who go to church, are people with problems - horrible marriage, depression, feeling of loneliness, etc. With them I get the impression that they need something else for guidance and I think they want to believe rather than really know.

It's not for me, but hey, if it makes them happy.

It depends how a person be lives and if his belief is firm he will even not hesitate to die for his belief and we have many and many examples in our day to day life which proves this. The believers in God or a Superficial power with what so ever name are more than 90 percent of the world population and includes very learned and valuable personalities. I think every religion is a very good social science but the differences arise due to ignorance or not having true picture of a certain religion.

Certainly no one knows beyond a shadow of a doubt what is the truth. That is why it is called faith. I have not ever seen God but I believe him to be there and to be helping me lead a good life. Convictions are simply opinions and everyone has them. Since all people's opinions are not the same then of course someone will have to be proven wrong in the final analysis. All any of us can do is live according to what we believe and allow others to do the same.

I only became a Christian after I had an experience of meeting with Jesus. I was at a friends baptism and had rejected christianity many times before, but this time the Holy spirit opened my heart and my eyes (like Paul on the road to Damascus, book of Acts) and I ended up filled with peace and love and healed of depression. And nobody knew it had happened, nobody prayed for me. It was just wonderful. That was when I 'knew' Jesus was alive and since then I have looked at other faiths but none of them have Jesus, so I can only conclude that christianity is the truth. It has certainly never let me down.

Contentment to this question for me has always been that all different religions referring to GOD are all different levels of knowledge in reference to the Bible. It all has a growing effect to each individual in his or her own personal experience here in this life that we have been given but it all leads to the same conclusion, LOVE IS THE KEY, ALWAYS CHOOSE RIGHT OVER WRONG, AND GOOD OVER BAD, and always keep in mind that we are all in a stage of learning through our trials and errors so to prepare us all for going to heaven to be with GOD and to better understand his ways when we get there. I don't believe GOD would have wanted everyone to bump heads with one another on who has the perfect beliefs over the other. I think that he probably frowns on it and feels sorrow over such a thing.

There is surely the common value that is the human being and its miraculous nature in many ways. I believe that our power is enough to let one truly believe (or know, same thing really) that there is a higher power than ourselves even if it just the manifestation of ancient spirits.

I know that the God I know to be true is the correct interpretation for me... perhaps not for all, however.
I know God exists, and he is a loving, forgiving God.
I have seen him work in my life, and others.
I know God will lead you to the path thats right for you, if you ask Him.
I believe all that matters in the end is that we try to be the best, moral people that we can. Thats what he asks us to do. It would be a better world if we all did!

There is only one true God. One true religion. We will all come to the same understanding by the day of judgement. I know my God is real. I talk to him everyday. He shows the truth plainly. Jesus is alive.
