And ladies and gentleman, if you look out the windows on the right side of the aircraft today you'll see what used to be the country of Great Britian, its now the worlds largest self lighting glass covered parking lot.

Landlord above me is also correct. In the 1980's I was a Nuclear Weapon Technician, and worked on numerous occasions with the British Army with various nuclear delivery systems. The British Military had physical control of nuclear weapons, but the final pre-fire, fuzing, and unlock codes where handled by the U.S. Military with final approval for release to the government of Britian given by the president of the United States, and there ya have it folks. Theres a reason why there is a U.S. Naval officer on those subs, think about it :)

No. The UK has about 200 nuclear warheads, althougth the total number is of course, classified. Of these, I'd reckon at the most 64 would be deployable, and that wouldn't be enough to take out the US to the extent that it wouldn't function enough to **** the UK back to the Stone Age. Of course, the UK might try to make it look like a horrible accident! (er.. oooops, sorry!)

Also, each UK nuclear sub has an US Navy officer on board.

Anyway, why the hell would we want to nuke our chums, what would be acheived? We'd have much more fun nuking the French....

Very iffy now if ANY country could land a nuke here by missle (even sub launched). There is now a fleet of chemical laser armed aircraft patrolling 24-7 each with the capability of taking out 30 or so incoming missles (and mrvs) at a range of over 300 miles, all instantaneously, all aimed by computer. Very hush hush.

Relax, have another hit off that bong

It can't be done. Not only 'coz of the current political situation, but due to the fact America has the final say. If you remember that "secret star wars deal" recently, the technology puts a failsafe in place ensuring that the UK requests a launch before being okayed by the White House or whoever is in charge.

How approximately an LBO particularly? i think of a greater physically powerful attitude could be to easily merge the two international places. carry the present uk in as 5 new states (N.eire, Scotland, Wales, Midlands, South East), upload some stars to the flag and phone it an afternoon. to boot, that should supply Tony Blair (or ultimately Gordon Brown) political conceal to offload the Sterling yet avert the Euro (and the French!). on an analogous time as we are at it enable's invite Canada and Australia too.

That's an interesting "what if" question.
Yes, the U.K.'s blow would be devastating and unexpected if it were launched this afternoon from one of our best allies. We wouldn't expect it. We normally anticipate an escalation of conflict and then get our systems to monitor for expected attacks.
Yes, the U.K. could possible win the battle, but really what would they gain?

If you'd like, we'd prefer someone else to be considered the "world's leader" for whatever that means-starting wars, ending dictatorships, feeding poor kids, exploit resources, etc... We just trying to do the best we can for ourselves and keep our children safe. Could the UK do a better job as the world's superpower? Please try.

UK doesn't have enough nukes, and our return strike would sink the British Isles.

If such a thing were to happen, the cockroaches would be the new superpower.

Unless we nuked you back with all our nukes. Then the pinguins win. Well, them and the cockroaches.

You Brits are the snot dripping from the US's nose. You are angry because your government says yes sir to all of our policies. This would never happen. And you show your ignorance.Don't you remember us coming to your rescue when you couldn't protect yourselves? Ungrateful
