My pediatrician advised us to start cleaning gums from the very beginning. They told us to use a damp wash cloth and wipe baby's gums every day. As far as tiny baby teeth go, they make these little rubber "toothbrushes" with little nubby "bristles" you can put on your finger to make brushing baby teeth easier. Baby Orajel has a set that comes with the little finger-toothbrush and baby toothpaste. When to switch to a real toothbrush is really a matter of preference. Whatever is easier for you to use will work just fine.

As soon as they get teeth or when you notice they are teething. Be sure to brush their gums as well. Make sure you use a soft bristle toothbrush like an oral b. That is what my dentist recommended for my children. The sooner you start brushing their teeth, the better it is for their gums. The soft bristles actually feel good on their gums. I think it helps with the whole teething process. It seems to toughen up their gums and makes teething less miserable for them.

As soon as the teeth are showing is when you should start caring for them!
Get one of those brush things that fit over your finger with yummy NON-FLUORIDE toothpaste at first and rub them once a day. Let baby chew and play with a toddler toothbrush to get them used to it, then gently brush them really quick. Most kids get to an age when they love doing what you're doing. Let them imitate you and enjoy it, don't make brushing teeth an annoying chore.

I started with my kids just as soon as they got their first 2 teeth, but without toothpaste, I just wanted them to start getting use to the feel of a toothbrush, and make it easier for them to brush their teeth voluntarily when they got old enough to do it.

You should start brushing a childs teeth as soon as they come in. This helps start the habit.

It is best to start before they get any teeth at all, but definitely once they have a tooth. They make toothbrushes and tooth pastes just for infants and toddlers.

Our doctor told us as soon as they get teeth, that way to get them used to it! So we've been brushing since 6 months- and they say 2 times a day! Also-use the baby toothpaste- it's better for them... and if you have to, only use a very small amount of regular toothpaste- they swallow it, so it's not good for them.

You should start washing your child's mouth out with either a finger cot, or soft bristled toothbrush as soon as possible. (teeth or no teeth) Not to mention it will help your child develop good teeth brushing habits.

once your child has teeth you are supposed to brush them!!! use a child size toothbrush and kids toothpaste. but make sure you read the ingredients in the toothpaste, some contain sugars to make it taste good but are really not good to smear their brand new teeth with sugar.

i have 3 daughters, and i started way before the got their first tooth. simply by getting a damp clean cloth and wiping their gums after every bottle feeding. then after they turned one, i purchased a toothbrush that was suitable for their age. a very, very small amount of "kids" toothpaste was used. if in doubt, talk to your pediatrician.
