My 12 yr old daughter really wants to start modelling and would like to be signed up to an agency which is the best one in the north west without paying something ?!!! x

All modeling places make you pay something. My brother did that and my parents spent 200 bucks on pictures and they had to buy his outfits for the pictures. It alway cost you something to start.

I stated moddeling at 14 . It's not easy and it can lead to bullying in the industry. You need to have a strong character to get through it. Its very competative even for a child mostly due to other parents. It also leads to alot of problems like anorexia, bolemia, etc. Because you get skinny thrown in your face all the time.
I'd advise you go and speak to a few bigger agency's, you'll find them in phone books or online.
A good moddeling agency will always ask a parent or gaurdian to accompany a child under 16 to any shoot, show or casting. If they dont then dont go. It can be quite dangerous.
The only way a moddeling agency pays for you is if they really want you. Most people have to pay basic fee's but these build up. You'll need to think about the cost of a portfolio, and some agencys wont take anyone on unless they do classes on make up, walking, etc.....which also adds up. And even then they are just out for the money and theres no garentee there'll be work.
But its not all misery, it can be fun. You can meet great people and make lots of friends from it and it boosts self confidence.
If you dont feel happy with any agent you talk to dont sign up. Its difficult, give it alot of thought for a girl so young. Maybe try looking for an agency that only uses children, even if they are too far for you just talk to them about it.

please don't do that! You will so severely mess your daughter up! Do you know know about Mary Kate Olsen? Anorexic and drug addicted? Almost died over and over again. If you love your daughter you will put your foot down,.. and let HER make the decision at 18.
