when in 7 states atheists are not allowed to hold public office nor be a witness in court.

Is it a case of freedom of religion as long as you have a religion

In the United States, some State Constitutions require a religious test as a qualification for holding public office. For instance The Bill of Rights of the Texas Constitution provides that an official may be "excluded from holding office" if he does not "acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being." Similarly, North Carolina, South Carolina & Tennessee all have mandatory disqualifications in their State Constitutions from public office for those who deny God

Ironic... those same states are part of the 33 that refuse the same legal job protections for gays that are ensured for everyone else under the Civil Rights Amendment followed up with the ADA. They also have a very long and deeply entrenched culture of state supported discrimination.... Freedom in the US is far less than many delude themselves into believing.

All it takes is one person to run for public office that does not fit those qualifications and the ACLU or some civil lawyer would be all over it. The US Constitution overrides state constitutions and they are illegal in discrimination.

there are other countries that allow freedom of religion. Most of Europe, Canada, I do believe Australia.

Actually the same is true for ministers. One local minister in my area was elected to public office, but he had to go all the way to the supreme court to get a judgement that allowed him to serve, given separation of church and state.

States may have those laws on their books but they are not enforceable.

Canada, Western Europe and Israel all have freedom of religion to a large extent.

I guess technically, we have freedom of religion, not freedom to deny religion and the existence of God.....this country was founded on religious freedom....

the laws you quote, if quoted correctly, would indicate that you would bring an anti-religion, anti- God, bias to your administration.

I live in China and we worship as we please as long as it doesn't involve governmental issues. So under communism, we have more freedom than in the US? It would seem that your freedoms are rhetorical, rather than truthful.

Atheists believe there is no God, but they have no proof, so they accept that by faith. A faith-based belief such as theirs is a religion.
