I would argue that even athism is a 'religion' -- a set of beliefs that guides their actions, and are no less miltant than most other sects of 'believers'. I think that our 'religiosity' is ingrained, we seek to make sense of our world (even if it's: the world makes no sense), it gives us a kind of security.

You do not, that is the whole purpose and reasoning behind it. For some no religion is a good life. I am me and after i die there is nothing but darkness. I do not believe in this philosophy as i think that there has to be something more. Even if you do not believe in God you have to believe that something as ethereal as the soul cannot possible fade away or be destroyed. it would be like taking a club and trying to crush air. peace.

Since religion is "adhering to a set of beliefs and ideas", I would call an individual who adheres to a belief not to believe in religion, a "religious hippocrit" not to mention ignorant to truth because religion does exist in the world just watch the news sometime and look in the religious section at any bookstore.

Yeah, basically, atheism, which IS technically a form of theism. It's a "belief" for which we can't have any demonstrable proof. Not to say it's on a level logically with such abominations as "christianity." I like the "teapot orbiting Pluto" (is it?) analogy. There MAY be a teapot orbiting Pluto; we have no direct evidence to contradict the assertion; but that doesn't mean it's reasonable to assume it's there.

It's called Humanism. Humanism teaches that a moral and ethical life can be led without the influence of diety-based religion, that all mankind's problems can be overcome with collective thought and actions.

Atheists do not believe in God, but they can't prove their belief, so it's just a theory/guess, and based on their own individual faith. And that faith-based belief is their religion. And since they can't prove their belief, they are hypocrites for trying to get Christians to prove our beliefs.

It is called moral and good people----which is better than any formal religion, unless that religion is lived as it is suppose to be.
This seldom happens, tho---so many change the formal religion to suit themselves.

Genesis 1:In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

In the very beginning was God who is our creator. He was then, is today, and always will be the one and only God that we are to praise and worship. When you speak of "religion" if they do not teach the true word of God which is belief in God, and that He is our divine creator who send His only begotton son to die on the cross to pay for our sins, and accept His son Jesus as your savior, those "religions" are satan's counterfits designed especially to de-rail Christians away from God and His truth.

So forget about belief in "religions" When what you need is faith in the Almighty God, belief in his word which is in the KJV bibile, and accept his son Jesus as your savior, who died on the cross for your sins, and repent of those sins daily.

Obey God's commandments and study His word daily, and watch for the signs of Jesus returning for His Chruch. Because when you accept Jesus as your savior, and live according to the word of God, you have become a part of that Chruch that Jesus is coming back for. Praise the Lord!

Why so many different religions? Satan is trying to confuse people away from God with them. All you need in life is God,Acceptaince of Jesus and being born again, repentance, study the word of God daily, and live according to that word, by applying it to your every day life.

Pray with out ceasing to the Almighty God for His dirrection and guidance in all aspects of your life. That prayer will give you the strength to resist temptation of the flesh because the flesh is weak. Nothing else matters.

You mean like a ham sandwich for a Muslim or Jew? ;-)
And to the misguided answers I see, that does NOT define atheists.
