If you hit someone from behind, you can be charged with following to close.
If there was no damage to the other car or your car police do not have to be notified.
You won,t lose your licence as the police weren,t called and you weren,t charged.
Leave a couple car links between you and another car from now on!

First of all, get your car to the shop. You need to have that repaired ASAP. The person who rearends someone is always held responsible, even if the person in front stops suddenly. If you didn't have any damage to report to your insurance company, and there were no tickets issued, you shouldn't lose your license or have your insurance go up. It all depends upon if the police were involved. A single accident of this type shouldn't cause you to lose your license.

If the person didn't call the police, you are okay. However, get your car fixed because the next person may not be so nice and call the police and you can be ticketed for driving too close, driving a car that is not safe to drive, and they may claim whiplash (which is hard to disprove).

If there is no damage, then no. I did that once too, and I hit the bumper kinda hard. There was no damage, so we both left without exchanging info.
