Can anyone tell me how to sign Merry Christmas in Columbian sign language. I have a deaf friend who lives down there and she's coming to visit in December. I'm already fluent in ASL but I'd like to greet her in her native sign language. Just explain the hand shapes and movements to me and I'll understand. Thanks!

a) You really should go to "en Español" at the foot of the page, because you need the help of Colombians.

b) If I didn't know better I would say you were related to a certain Samantha R (http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/my/profile;_ylt=AvO437Vmh7cHK1Rs7oqZtt4SBgx.?show=9b9c4dc669c29b1293318c04993f2a7daa ) who had a a remarkably similar (and misspelt) question.

(c) This was my answer to her....

1. If you want to make her feel welcome, you might wish to learn the name of her country. It's Colombia (not Columbia).

2. If she can understand the rest of your ASL-based communication, then she will understand Merry Xmas in ASL.

3. You could always display in your house a party banner (purchased or homemade) that says Feliz Navidad.

4. If it really is important for you to know how to say "Feliz Navidad" in Colombian Sign Language (CSN), then there is an obvious alternative to Yahoo! Answers (which, quite frankly, is normally useless for such a specialist question). The obvious source of information is Fenascol (la Federación Nacional de Sordos de Colombia). The following webpage has an online query function as well as e-mail address, telephone numbers, fax number and postal address.
