It depends on the look you wish to create. A neat bun is good for giving a professional woman-about-town image whereas a high ponytail sends the message of tidy but casual. If you want a style for anytime (for example, a style you can wear at work then go out socialising straight after work), have you tried french plaiting (takes a bit of practicing but well worth it) or a nice french pleat which can be worn plain and unadorned for work and then dressed with hair clips (flowers, diamante etc) for after work.

for an interview or a proffesional work place that is all dressed up a very neat bun . in a high straight ponytail thats more going out on the town or something .

They both have their good sides, but it depends what look you're going for, and where you want to go, I guess. The high ponytail look is sleek, and trendy, whereas the neat bun is profesional and mature....

with straight hair a messy bun would look the best but the one i talk about only takes two seconds. you go to put it in a pony but every time you go to wrap the band around you take and leave hair until it is tight
or if you want one of the 2 pony tail
