It is not polite for any person to disturb another in the privacy of that room, No matter how close the relationship is or how mature there is a level of respect for another person that should always be held, The proper response if it is urgent and absolutely cannot wait would be to request that the person who is bathing or showering please vacate the bathroom so you may use it, I think most spouses/significant others would appreciate this much more than a co-existance in this area.

is this not an individual thing? I think as far as general etiquette goes, then no using the bath and toilet should not happen in the same room. I think as far as respect goes it's down to the individual. Some couples feel really comfortable doing this and it doesn't cause a problem. For you this is not the case so surely your fella should respect that and wait until you have finished in the bath before going? Personally i couldn't find a bath relaxing if the bathroom stinks. Bad aromas are renowned for causing discomfort.
Bottom line i think it's down to the individual couple to work out what's best for them.

I don't mind that much if it's a number 1, but for number 2's I'd rather they wait till I'm out the way!
I think it depends on the people, I mean, I have never seen my parents naked and in their house you shut and lock the door when you're using the bathroom, but my boyfriend's very different and he will leave the door wide open or his sisters would wander in and that, so you get used to it!

I've been married nearly 22 years and my hubby has nothing I haven't seen and vice versa so to tell you the truth I don't care if he comes in the bathroom for a pee when I'm in the bath or shower, if he wanted anything other than a pee he waits till I've finished.

Just peeing. My husband takes a hot soak in the bath after a long day at work. I guzzle water all day and have a teeny, tiny bladder. He doesn't mind, so I gave up the being embarassed thing.

I believe i even in the closest relationships somethings should remain private. I don't think its prudish at all just its not very respectful is it. I would never let my husband see me use the toilet or shave my bikini line. Somethings were never meant to be shared.

Peeing yes, I've had to do it myself in front of my partner, I just think he's seen and touched every part of my body so why not, but pooing, then no, I think that should be done in private. I don't want to see my partner doing it and I wouldn't want him to see me doing it.
Luckily now we have two bathrooms so not a problem.

No, I hate it yuk I don't want to smell anything like that when I'm trying to have a nice bath. Combined toilet/bathrooms should be banned.
