It is not necessary. What you COULD try, would be conditioning her dry hair, leaving it on for 10 minutes, then washing it out thoroughly using shampoo. What type of oil do you use in her hair? Coconut oil controls frizz, prefect for her curly hair. Leave it in during the night, and do that once a week. Don't brush her hair, curly hair just gets more tangley when you brush it. Finger-comb it. Don't have her wash her hair every day, that is destructive. Shampoo & Condition one day, just condition the next. If you are african american, putting oil in her hair weighs it down. Instead, try Garnier Sleek&Shine shampoo&conditioner. It adds moisture & shine to hair, while still allowing movement. You could also look around your local drugstore to find curl enhancing hair products, but I do not suggest this as they can be pricey, and after all your daughter is only 6 years old.

I use a mixture of olive oil and almond oil on my daughter and son who are both 6. My daughter's hair is curly and dry too. I think it is necessary for the hair to be smooth and free of tangles. I use oil atleast 3 times a week on my kids.

Yes very necessary. (Only weekly?) If u want ur kid to have any hair u have to ensure that it doesn't brake off. I oil my 3 year old's hair daily when I comb it plus I deep condition it every few weeks.

Try using a shampoo designed for people with exceptionally dry and brittle hair. If you go to a salon to have your hair done, the girls in there will definitely be able to steer you at a specific brand. A walk through WalMart reading shampoo bottles will also give you quite a selection of shampoos for those oily-impaired people.
Good luck.

In general, oiling hair is good one. you have mentioned that your child is having dry and curly hair and you oil child weekly.since oiling helps for good hair growth and shine you can oil weekly twice.but use mild oils like baby oil, coconut oil.DONT USE HERBAL OILS AT THIS AGE .
