Men are "hunters", women are "nurturers". Maybe it's just in them. Until they're really, really, really ready to settle down with one woman and a commitment for life - it's just hard to make that choice.
I really don't know, but I agree that more men are fearful of making a commitment than women.

Men feel that they have to take care of women. Whether this is the case or not, many men don't feel capable of taking care of themselves, let alone providing for and protecting a woman too. Some men enjoy living life on their own and do not think sharing that life with a woman (who will, ultimately, set boundaries and impose rules about going out with the guys, fidelity, drinking out of the milk carton, etc.) is something they are ready to sacrifice freedom for. Women are more into LOVE and are willing to make sacrifices in order to have/ keep it. Maybe she doesn't mind having to live in a small one bedroom apartment and work two jobs in the beginning because she LOVES the guy and will do whatever it takes to keep him. It is not that men don't LOVE women; they really do. It is just that they are afraid that even if they make all the sacrifices required to have a relationship, they will fail her. The key to getting a man to commit is this: make him feel safe with you by being self-reliant / self-supporting / competent without him, accepting who he is without negativity or impatience, and by being the person to whom he can turn when life sucks--his friend, his buddy, his comfort. You must be all those things AND his sex goddess, too. If the sex isn't the best he thinks he's ever had, then you will just be his safe friend....how dull is that? If it ALL falls into place, the commitment will come.

Men mature later in life, they also like their independence and being able to move around and do what they want. Including doing other women. They are also scared of divorce, and the financial responsibilities.

You know that is a very good quesion. when you find out let me know. I have been trying to figure out for the longest why they dont want to commit, but I dont know. They want to play around, and have fun, which I dont get because there is a lot of fun to be had in a good relationship.
