"Es ist Zeit, etwas zu tun", where the objects of the verb(etwas) or prepositional phrases go in front of the "zu", also the first bit of separable verbs.
"Es ist Zeit, zu Abend zu essen." or, more colloquially "es ist Zeit zum Abendessen" It's time for dinner, or,if dinner is your word for the main meal, regardless of the time of day "Es ist Zeit zum Mittagessen" which would be the main meal in Germany.
" Es ist Zeit, zur Arbeit zu gehen." = It's time to go to work
" Es ist Zeit, ins Bett zu gehen." = It's time to go to bed
" Es ist Zeit, aufzustehen" = It's time to get up"
" Es ist Zeit, den Arzt zu rufen" = It's time to call the doctor"

Es ist Zeit (better would be Jetzt, etc), Es ist Zeit für's Abendessen, Es ist Zeit für die Arbeit

It's time for dinner would translate to "Es ist Zeit für Abendessen."
It's time to go to work would translate to "Es ist Zeit zu gehen zu arbeiten" - but that's gramatically incorrect. I'm not sure of the proper form, except that the verb should go at the end, so my own guess would be "Es ist Zeit am Arbeiten zu gehen".
There's a cool online language translator that I use pretty frequently - Babble Fish from Altavista. It doesn't always give the *best* translation, but it gives you one that at minimum will be understood. If you're going to use any of the translation results in conversation, be assured that the nice German-speaking person to whom you are speaking will gently correct you.

"es ist Zeit für... (das Mittagessen)" and "Es ist Zeit an die Arbeit zu gehen" (and not: "Es ist Zeit zu gehen an die Arbeit".. infinitive verbs are preferably at the end of the sentence), or "Es ist Zeit zu .."

I normally say "Es ist Essenzeit" (eating time)or "es ist Schlafzeit" (sleeptime) and my kids haven't bothered to correct me yet.

I just googled english to german translator and typed in "Its time for dinner" and this is what I came up with:
