Lol. I agree with you on the baby talk thing. Sometimes, it's annoying for me to see people making fools of themselves and acting silly, but sometimes it looks cute and adorable. It just depends on the people and situation.
'I do agree that i cant use that same words for the different ages but i still think that I should show the same amount of respect and maturity to each group. How about you?'
If you would treat a 5 yeard old with the same amount of respect you treat an adult, that kid would grow up to be very immature and irresponsable. You can't treat all age groups with the same amount of respect because they don't belong to the same level of maturity. You should respect everyone's rights, yes, but different age groups require different behaviours.

There is a great article in Scientific Amercan about the brain and the senses that specfically talks about sing-song baby talk. being important to baby brain development. i recently read the article and it was fascinating. Very long web address for the magazine listed in reference section.
Also, studies show music and the arts make kids smarter. Using the Arts to Improve Your Child's Reading, Writing and Math Skills is in a blog posted on 09/17/06 at http://familiesonlinemagazine.com/plog/index.php. Lots of helpful information there too.

It depends on the age of the child. If the child can understand you in a normal tone, then use a normal tone, but the younger ones need something a bit more interesting than that. And babies don't give a darn about what you're saying, as long as your voice is "cutesy" enough to keep them entertained.

I'm afraid it is just a totally natural reaction - when you talk baby to them they give you a big smile - you will do it when you have your own children. On the other hand, when kids get to a certain age I think they should be treated more maturely - they seem to appreciate it.

"Baby talk" is nerve racking...but, change of tone and pitch with 'real" words is alright in my book. And you can use the same words for all ages, that's the way to learn and children will learn at an earlier age words with more that five letters if they hear them used on a daily basis...

When I was younger I knew a lady who didn't believe in baby talk, and she would not talk that way to her daughter, at five her daughter was very articulate. When I had my own children, I decided to put that to use, and they speak very well. But I didn't deprive them of singing to them, they enjoyed the songs and the attention.

When u get older u might understand better.People like to have fun with little kids and part of that is talking to them like a baby.Plus the kids love it..The only person that it seems to matter to is u. So remove yourself from the situation.Let them have there fun. When u get older all u have to look forward to sometimes is your baby.So lighten up and join in...

As annoying as it is, it is kind of necessary. It is so much easier to keep a baby's attention talking sing-songy than trying to be all mature and calm and even-toned. Sorry, you just have to live with it.

There is a difference to me between using the "singsong voice" (which really is instintive, all cultures do it, and babies respond to it) and pronouncing words incorrectly to babies and small children. This does them a disservice. And actually, I don't think it matters really what words you use. Enrich their vocabularly by uisng (correctly pronounced) adult words.
