Most airlines will allow up to two check bags that way no more than 50 lbs. for free. That is for domestic and international travel. If you are carrying more weight or wish to check more bags or boxes. The airline will charge you an additional fee.

Be sure to check the web site of the airline you are traveling on for more rules for that particular airline.

There is a general allowance but each airline is different.

It is on the Ticket as terms and condition. Travel agents and ticket agents also have this information.

It is just not weight but size of the bags, weight per bags and what you can check in and what you are allowed to take it with you.

I think the answer depends on your airline's policy. My airliner is Jet Blue and they allow up to 30 pounds for carry on, per person.
