Argh its driving me mad!!
We have a one year old Collie Labrador cross and he's always been very clean, but in the last few weeks he's taken to pooing on the floor at night (lovely surprise to come down to in the morning).
We also have a 10 year old Jack Russell who seems to have started copying him because she's started doing it as well!
YEUCH!
I'm 35 weeks pregnant and can't really cope with this!
i don't know if its something to do with me being pregnant or an attention thing - they get plenty of attention and the baby's not even here yet.
Its just stressing me out as its disgusting and unhygenic. I don't like the idea of shutting them outside all night (its really cold and our garden's not secure) but I don't know why they've started doing this when they both used to be 100% clean! Help!

J J - I must admit that they haven't been getting their regular walks as I'm not up to it - I thought it was OK as long as they go out go out in the garden to do their "business" but I guess that could be a factor.

sounds like the attention thing but you may want to consult your vet about it

First of all- congrats for the baby to come-
And try taking the dogs out for walks (If you can)
or maybe let the dogs out to the bathroom during the day every 3 hours or 4.
And if it keeps going on look at what there eating and then meet up with a vet and tell whats in the food and then see what they can do!
Hope I helped!
love,
Sydney

dogs are quite smart I'm thinking your dog is feeling like things in it's house is going to change. Try reasuring the animal u love it and give it a little more attention and it should stop if not take it to the vet it could have something wrong inside

You'll have to spend a couple of days with the dog 24 hours a day. Watch where he goes and just before he's able to lift his leg, take him out. After he goes outside, positive reinforcement.

Sit him down and explain to him that its not on, or you could have a word with the Jack Russell and ask him to have a little talk to the Labrador explaining how bad it is. Also the Jack Russell should know better ... teach 1 of them to use the toilet and flush the chain and hopefully the other will copy.

Hi try getting the dogs a crate as they hate to wet their beds & it would be far better for you not to be cleaning up all their mess in a morning...crates are really good aids to cleaning a dogs act up...Regards Jake

probably down to idiots letting off fire works all night.
its well known that animals are afraid of the noise but they dont give a damn. my dog has to have sedatives from the vet for about 4 weeks this time of year due to them, i dont need to tell you where i would like to shove the fireworks !!!!
good luck hopefully the problem with your dog should soon be over.

Have you been taking them for their regular walk last thing at night?
Pregnancy is tough and tiring, but the dogs won't understand that.
Try to keep to the regular routine you have with them.

hiya congrats on being pregnant.i think its because your dogs are aware of a big change coming along.get them neutered if not already and make sure you stick to giving them their walks cos they probably noticed you havent been taking them out and are doing it for attention!!!good luck!!!
