I have a friend and recently she had bleeding when she pass motions. She says she don't see blood in her stool but on the toilet paper. It is only a small patch and bright red. She has constipation and when she had the bleeding, she had diarhhea( spelled correctly?) is this normal? She says she had it last time, long time ago only once and it became okay, until recently. Is this is a serious problem? How should I help her? Help...

Your friend may have hemorrhoids, which is a very common problem, made worse by straining when constipated. There are over the counter meds for this such as Preparation H. If the condition continues or gets worse, though, she should see a doctor.

get to hospital as soon as possible, when pregnant you should go to hospital straight away with any bleeds. It doesnt mean your miscarrying but they need to check that that isnt the case and find out whats going on. I had numerous episodes of bleeding throughout my pregnancy and baby was fine so dont panic but you do need to get to hospital so they can check you out and make sure both you and baby are fine. If I were you, I would go get my pregnancy hand held notes NOW and phone the hospital straight away, they will tell you what to do. ps. I had bleeding and clots all through pregnancy..... they said it is not unusual for some people but it does need close monitoring...... go call the doctor!

Sounds like haemorrhoid's (sp?) or more commonly known as piles - if so, this is more of an inconvenience rather than serious although if she is worried she should see her doctor who will be able to diagnose very quicly. She could also try Anusol cream and pessaries which should sort the problem out within a week.

its haemmarrhoids. the blood vessels near our back passage can easily break when the stools are hard and there's a lot of passage. ask her to see a doctor.

also, for constipation, she could try eating more fibre, and drinking more fluids, to make the stool softer.
