A friend of mine's boyfriend was killed and there have been no arrests. She doesn't have any money. Any suggestions on how to get money to set up a reward for info that leads to an arrest?

Set up a charity account at your local bank, then advertise for donations, specifying it goes to that account. The account should be handled by an uninterested 3rd party (no family members or close friends) such as an accountant or other business type volunteer, to both add legitimacy to the fund and keep people from wondering where the money is going. You can collect money other ways as well, (fundraisers, etc) as long as the totals get deposited into the account for the reward.

NOTE: Lately there have been some very dirty handed people who have collected funds for so called reward accounts or to help someone with medical expenses that have been total scams. You might run into a few businesses that are a little leary of helping because of that, so have your stuff together and have a letter from the account trustee showing the cash flow is legit.

you set up a fund and have 10 percent go to the reward and the other 90 percent go to a charity of yoiur choice preferable something that your friend was into before he died. then you have to advertise it on the news and web otherwise you wont make any money and you will never catch the person that did it. i think you will probably need a lawyer though just in case there are any legalities to posting a reward.

Go on local TV, do a public appeal. Your local cable company may give you space for a free advertisement. They can even help you put together a documentary style program

yes try and get corporate donors, have friends and family ask churches and the such. See if a bank would set up a non profit bank account for it.
