Egg Nog
1 qt milk
6 x eggs beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup heavy cream
nutmeg
1) Mix together first 4 ingredients; reheat to 160 degrees, using a candy thermometer to check temperature.
2. Add teaspoon vanilla & cool by placing pan in bowl of ice cubes; stirring until cooled.
3. Pour in a bowl which has 1 cup heavy cream, whipped.
4. Garnish with nutmeg sprinkled over top.

EGGNOG 1 whole egg 1 tablespoon superfine sugar Pinch salt 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup milk Nutmeg Beat the egg with the sugar and salt and pour into a 10-ounce highball glass. Add vanilla and milk and stir to mix. Grate a little nutmeg on top. Note: If there is a problem with eggs in your region, do not prepare this recipe. Serves 1.

I was going to answer one to two days, but I was so impressed with the egg storage chart answer, that I must mention that too! What a great piece of information for every household. If that submitter is still checking in, I would love to know the source of the information, so I don't have to write down the whole chart by hand!

as long as you keep it under 45 degrees it will last a long time i would safely discard it in 1 week ...but remember that is chilled all the time not taking it out and putting it back....it OK to pour a glass...you are just talking the storage of milk and eggs....how long do you keep them under refrigeration
