It obviously depends on the method of shipment.. If you are sending it via an express mail route- it will take approximately five to seven days.. if you are sending it via regular mail- it could take two to three weeks (but sometimes miracles happen and it arrives in a week to ten days).. Having lived in China for several years, I went through these delays in mail delivery many times...

Letters to China from the US usually takes about 2 weeks (+/- 3 days). If you are sending to smaller cities in China, I recommend you use DHL or get your friend to write the address in Chinese but seeing how this is to Beijing, it should not be a problem....you can always hope.

Would it not be safer to send it by wire or Western Union? What if you addressed it incorrectly or the Chinese sorter misread it? Banks like Washington Mutual are offering free wire service. You should check it out before sending. The money you save in the long run, you could save the aggravation in the short term and be sure it arrives.
