antivir is what i've always used - started with the free version and now use the version that only costs 20 euros a year (5 euros goes to charity) - but remember any antivirus is only effective if its updated regularly - antivir has several updates a day and is very easy to use.

There has been reports from top rated professionals that Panda software is being looked at seriously.
System Suite 7 is being looked at with it's new features. Also System Mechanics has it's great features look on waiting for Version 7 on that one Version 6 is good but always look for the great ones.

Bit Defender Internet Security 9 so far I know.
Excelent antivirus system. It scans continuesly (every single file, ziped or not) at the background for threats, viruses, worms, trojans and backdoors. Test it and you will never see a threat again. Guearanteed!

If you want the one that works the best, it's Symantec/Norton, hands down. I've found it very easy to use.
If you want a free one that does a decent job, go for AVG Free. But you'll probably have just as much "luck" with Avast, another free one.
