I stopped believing about 2 years ago after I decided to really really research into other religions and different theories such as evolution. Then I looked into the history of the bible and where it came from...and I realized that it has about as much substance and legitimacy as Greek Mythology. Then I went to college for Archeology and found that alot of the things in the bible are Historically inaccurate...especially the book of Luke...then I just realized if it was the true word of God..then it would be perfect..and instead of trying to justify it with faith and excuses..i just accepted that its just not real.

I only stopped believing for a short time during my rebelious, i know it all times. This was my adolencents, while I was questioning and trying understanding who and what I am. When you are selfish, there is no god in your life.

Where I stand now is in a place of peace and reflection. I can see how much damamge man's interpertation of god has do to distroyed much of it's credibility. I can see how man uses god to promote his/her agenda. I can see people blindly following his/her god for their own reward.

God is not what man says it is. God Is for the most part beyond the scope of any definition created by man. God is all the good clique's we know plus much more. Man uses God and it's influence for his/her tool to control others which is not god like.

Religion is man's interperitation of a god in an attempt to use God's intention in his/her own way. God is more then a tool, it is everything anyone can precieve, the sky, the univerce, a baby's cry a mothers warm breast, a father providing for a family, the snakes in the field eating the mice and rats. Man can not define it, it can only use analogies to promote it. And man can only quest to be as good as it.

I never stopped believing in God. I stopped believing in Religion
Religion is a system of social coherence based on a common group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object, person, unseen being, or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought. I see God in everything but man. Maybe you are that exception and are beautiful too inside and out. Your eyes reflect your soul, don't give in to bad religion.
Keep the faith, Love God with all your heart ,and your neighbor as yourself.

Stop believing in God? That's ridiculous. That's like asking a fish why he has stopped believing in water.

God is only one abstract word and is used to make categories between people and to divide them, although I respect those who believe and I like to read about ancient cults to know the ancients' past convictions but I always remember the proverb: divide to conquer, and religion is the best for that quote.. I stopped beleiving when I found out that religion is for wars and used as a tool to stir people emotions to kill each other

I stopped believing in religion when I saw how many different ways people believed. How could they all be right? How could they all be wrong? What right did we have to judge another person's path to the divine?

From there it was a short step to realizing that there was no god -- god was only the rationalization of those believers to justify their beliefs.

I can't remember exactly. I know I was an atheist in high school, although I didn't actually give it much thought either then or for many years after that.

But in my mid-thirties I actually sat down and read the bible, which was all the convincing I needed. So I've "officially" been an atheist for about ten years now.

I still believe in God, but my idea is a much expanded God, one who is not limited by we humans. I stopped believing in a traditional God many years ago.

If I am right I am blessed, if I am wrong, I will be an outcast

God as a thinking entity, when I was much younger and very passionate about science. The closest thing I believe in as far as God is very much like Albert Einstein's representation of God as an energy(and your "soul").Basically the force that lends a cohesive bond to our universe and governs the very laws of nature.

The same time I stopped believing in Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and all the other Fairy Tales. That is to say, when I grew out of childhood.
