i lost my web cam CD and the manf. name and the model are not shown on it, so i am looking for a universal driver may make it work again.... if you can help it is hieghly appreciated.

I've never seen a universal webcam driver, I don't beleive they make one.
however, if you have a sticker on it with the FCC ID...then you can look that up to find out who made it and see if the OEM has any drivers. Otherwise, you might have to crack it open and look at any names on chips inside. I'm pretty sure it's probably an OEM deal and the same camera is sold by lots of various distributors.
I will tell you the largest manfactuer i've seen of Webcams is Omnivision. I've had 4 or 5 offbrand webcams that have been Omnivision OEM products. You might consider trying those drivers.

The device name or item code, or at least the manufacturer should be printed somewhere on the webcam, then you can search on the internet or go to the manufacturer's website, there you can browse through all of the webcams they've ever made until you found the right one. Other than that, un-plug the webcam(if it's plugged in) then plug it back in.. it should pop up saying new hardware detected and windows might tell you what the device is called.
