The well known sanskrit shloka goes like this
"Aalasys hi manushashya sharirashto maha ripu,
Na hi suptasya Sinhamasya praveshyanti mukhe mrigah"
Idle ness is the biggest enemy of man, if a person has to achieve something in life he has to work for it as a deer doesn't gets into the mouth of a sleeping Lion by its own, the Lion has to go after it. If a machine is not in use for many days it starts rusting and becomes scrap if not used at all. Also idleness bring many negative thoughts in the mind of a person. So to avoid Evil or the bad thing to occur in one's life one has to work hard which will again keep him away from all negative thoughts.

you should really do your own work but im bored and not willing to stay idle so...

It is in man's nature to help his fellow man and do his part by working. From prehistoric times man has worked to help his neighbour because this is needed for a community to thrive, or else nothing would get done and progression in our race would be slow. It is for this reason that idleness is the root of all evil - an idle person is one who is unwilling to help, to contribute, which builds a sense of injustice amoung others and a sense of bordom within the idle person. These feelings are the cause of evil acts such as revenge or destruction of property. Also one whose time is not spent working or keeping busy, has time to consider other, less wholesome activitys and there within lies evil.
