Watch the movie "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" or "Save the last dance", I think it will answer half your question. I've seen white men get just as upset about seeing a white woman with a black man. No matter what the rationale (and some are valid), its still racism. There is stereotypical belief that white women only date ("steal") the better educated, higher income, black men. This is probably not the case. Even people open minded enough to date outside of their own race/ethnicity tend to stay near a similar social economic level.

It isn't just skin color. A group tries to keep its own. There are Catholic parishes where I once lived, and dating outside your own parish was frowned on. I know a woman who dated (and married) a Scandinavian man just after the second world war. She was German-American, and women from the Scandinavian community called her a Nazi. In the sexual competition for mates, people can be mindlessly competitive for no reason at all. Parents of the competing children, too. I know of a recent marriage where she was white and he was light hispanic, and security was called to take HIS FATHER from the wedding ceremony because he became violent! This is one of those universal things. Sorry, that's not much of an answer, is it? But it can be culture, color, race, height or wealth. People tend to divide themselves up. I did read a study about black women preferring lighter colored black men, but I don't remember anything more. But where does that leave the darker black men? I'm white and don't prefer black women, but I've seen some very pretty ones that I wouldn't mind meeting. But there's always that nagging thing in the back of your head that your community has drummed into you.

I know what you mean, I am white and dating a black man, I don't only date black men, I date men of all ethnic groups and a lot of black women ask me, "do you date only black men?" I mean what does it matter, we are not stealin' anything, we are dating which is something that is human nature. If God would have meant for us to date people of our kind than he would have made us all the same. I think those women are just a bit jealous and need to get a grip.

Jealousy maybe. I stopped dating Black men a long time ago. I prefer exotic men like my husband.

It's just racism and/or jealousy. People should date whoever they want and race should never factor into in. Perhaps in time this attitude can change.
