In the Catholic Church, all Catholics in the United States will hear the same readings at Mass today: Deuteronomy 6:2-6, Psalm 18:2-3, 3-4, 47, 51, Hebrew 7:23-28, and Mark 12:28b-34

Will other Catholics in other countries be hearing these readings this Sunday as well?

Yes, and so will the Lutherans and Christians in many other churches, as well.

Long long ago, before our churches split apart, some scholars put together a three-year liturgical cycle. Readings from the gospels are matched up with readings on a similar theme from the old testament and from the epistles and acts of the apostles.

It's a pretty good system, so many of the churches decided to keep it even after they split apart from the Catholic Church.

This Advent we will begin Year C.

Yes every catholic hears the same thing all over the world. Its also interesting that no matter where you go if you go to a catholic mass youll be able to follow the ceremony. Sure it will be in another lang. but its the same format.

Yes, unless they're celebrating a certain feast day in accord with the directives of the local bishops conference.

But most, if not all, Catholics will be hearing the exact same readings.

The readings you mention are the same ones we heard over here in Japan ... !

It is possible to be on the same scriptural page and not on the same spiritual page so my guess is it really does not matter in the whole scheme of things.
