This is a difficult one. My husband has the same problem, same treatments, all to no avail. We have tried everything, fungal infections are very hard to get rid of. what works for us , and it's a problem for both of us, we take live acidophilus capsules when symptoms flare up and nothing else works. Fungal infections thrive in the bowel and can be passed very easily to vagina or penis during normal living and loving. They take a hold when the natural bacteria in the bowel become depleted for some reason. this can happen through use of antibiotics, poor diet or just stress. The acidophilus capsules replace these bacteria; in fact any time either yourself or your partner take an antibiotic, you should take these during the course and for a week after you finish. Also try to avoid anything yeast-based until the infection clears; that means alcohol, whites bread, biscuits etc; and anything with refined sugar. Eat more veggies. A fungal infection is your body's way of saying "I can't cope"

Change doctors.

Obviously your doctor is giving the wrong treatment.

This is (also obviously) a very important part of your anatomy and you need to seek professional help and the place for that is NOT here.

As you have found out, the wrong treatment can make things a lot worse and I shudder to think of the damage you might do with any "home remedies" you hear on here.

Agree with all the "Friendly Bacteria" advice.
Try Primadophilus Bifidus or Reuteri - on of the better Probiotcs on the market. Though so far my only source has been the USA.

Infacol have finally produced one for the UK (for babies - but suitable for adults) in a drop formula, try Vantage chemists.

Also Tea Tree oil for bathing. (great natural anti fungal treatment)

If its not working - then see a DR who has more experience with this kind of problem.
Good Luck

Hey there,
Penile Papules are harmless. They are not infectious and are not related to personal hygiene or sexual activity. You can decide to remove them with a little procedure (done by dermatologists using a CO2 laser to vaporise the spots) but it's not obligatory. If you want to know more about this condition and wanna discover alternative cures visit this web site http://papules.toptips.org
I hope it helps

are you sure it's a fungle infection? my son, when he was quite small, had the same symptoms as you do and our g.p. gave us at least 5 or 6 creams to try, and it always came back. we finally went to a dermatologist and he said it was eczema. he gave us cortizone cream and it cleared right up. so now if it starts to look the slightest bit red or sore....we put that on and it stops it dead. he has very fair skin and is prone to dry skin, as well.

g.p. 's are good but don't know everything...ask to see a dermatologist.
good luck.

make sure you wear loose fitting cotton underwear and keep your penis clean and dry. Eat live yoghurt which is good at combatting fungal infections or take an acidophilis supplement (this is what is in the live youghurt). Make sure you and your partner use condoms if you are having sex because otherwise you will just keep passing it back and forth between you.

NO, haven't any direct experience. But if Canesten didn't sort it, then it probably isn't a fungal infection.

Go to your local STD clinic for swabs. Maybe you need antibiotics.

I expect that you'll get loads of "yuck" answers, take no notice. We all have health mishaps.
