God understands your struggles just keep that in mind. And if you truely feel bad about it then when you get extra money instead of spending it on something you don't need (not talking about food or anything like that) then give it to God.

God does not want you to give him your rent or grocery or bill money. He see what you have to work with. However, if you attend a church where you are supposed to tithe as part of the service then perhaps you can just give when you have a little extra. I am sure God would not hold you to the 10% rule knowing your circumstances. Also understand that to give to God does not have to be a monetary giving. You have abilities and talents you could use to help out in other ways too instead of money. Perhaps you could volunter some time in a soup kitchen or such. Maybe you could crochet preemie baby hats or blankets if you have that talent. Whatever the case, there is more God would accept from you as perhaps even a better tithe than your money.

If you don't pay your rent, you won't have a roof over your head. If you don't pay your tithes every week, nothing will happen to you.
God does not require your money. Man does though, and says that it's really God who does. The parable of the widow's mite is a good example where Jesus says it's not the amount that matters but the intent.

tithing is corrupt and was incorporated into religion around the year 300 .
this is exactly what is wrong with this world look at the churches that are built and the so called recreation buildings in some of these religions ?????who and how do you think they are getting paid for ,i personally KNOW one preacher from a huge babtist church in my area [i work in a bank ]who makes over 7000.oo a month,,,, his wife who HAPPENS to be the church secretary makes 2500.00 a month and they have a home paid for by the church and drive nice new vehicles hummmmm ..........oh yes lots of tithing going on in this particular church .
it would be different if the money people gave to upkeep the church and help it's fellow citizens actually was used for the purpose intended .
tithing is simply another man made spiritual "LAW"
bogus and corrupt to it's core .

Charity begins at home. God doesn't need your money. He does need for you to take care of yourself and your family as best you can with your financial resources.
That tithing thing is nothing more than feeding into hypocrisy.
If your church is not spending every single cent they get from offerings and tithes on less fortunate human beings in your neighborhood, they are not doing God's bidding in the first place.
There are other ways to "tithe" than hand greenbacks to a church.
Try neighborhood service or something.

Tithing is a spiritual principal. For the Money System to work, there must be a steady flow of money.
People who hoard money do damage to the system as much
as criminals who intentionally try to disrupt the money system.
Nevertheless, the Money System is a NECESSARY Evil.
CHARITY is not just giving of material things. One can give
something back to our Creator by giving some of their TIME.
When you see a drunk with his hair standing up, and the
booze smells on his breath. Can you still treat that person
like a human being who is in pain? When we can do that, we'll know the true meaning of charity.

This has nothing to do with your rent or any other expense. God is clear on this. We are to tithe, but we are to give the firsfruits of our income. We give tithe first, and with whats left, we pay out our expenses, and He will make it stretch. We dont pay our bills first andthen hope there is a little left for God.
Once we grasped this principle, it was a life changing event. It is obedience, and God blesses you as such.
If you cant do it now, as you are short of funds, do it with the next paycheck and watch what happens.

I think the priority is to pay for your basic needs first then to pay a tithe if you can afford it. The widows mite in the temple in Jerusalem shows the value of giving what you can. Jesus pointed out that the little she gave was worth far more than others giving in their excess.

I had a young women patient in the final stage of leukemia. One afternoon I went to visit her and a minister was admonishing her for not meeting her tithe. I kicked him out and told him not to come back. She died two days later. TITHE????? HA

You are in the house of worship, and it ok if you don't have the money at the time of offering. God is just glad you are sharing your time in his house. I had times like that, and I know how you feel. Just pray and thank God you had the money for your rent!
