Not directly. It (even the diet kind) can cause obesity, which is a risk factor in some cancers. It can leach calcium out of your bones and raises your risk of diabetes even if you only drink one a day. It can eat the rust off of nails and clean a car battery, so I don't think it is easy on your stomach. If you like the caffeine, switch to green tea, it is much healthier. Also, soda (especially citrus flavored clear ones) can contain benzenes at 20 parts per million if it is exposed to light and heat. The safe limit for benzenes in drinking water is .05 parts per million. The FDA declined to regulate soda because, they said, people drink more water than soda! I think this is untrue. Many teenagers don't drink water at all and indulge in several sodas a day.

No one knows what causes cancer, but just as with anything else it is probably not good healthwise to drink coca cola excessively. An occasional drink is not going to do any harm.
There is really nothing you can do to prevent cancer. There is no known gene that explains all cancers. You can stop smoking but that only means your chances of getting lung cancer are cut down, doesn't mean you won't get colon cancer or leukemia or another type of cancer.
One of the best ways to protect yourself is to live a healthy lifestyle, exercise, don't do anything to excess, stay strong, educate yourself about what to look for with ALL types of cancer, and than . . go about your life living it to the fullest. No sense in worrying about something that might never happen.

It can but it is very rarely the sole cause. Normally there is some other reason as well and it's not just coca cola that can contribute it is almost all fizzy drinks. it's better to just steer clear of too much of any one.

Unfortunately I think everything these days causes cancer. It is very hard to escape this disease. I knew a lady that was very into organic things and exercised, didn't drink or smoke, she was very healthy and then died from cancer. Pets are all getting cancer. It's totally out of control.
I found this site for you that mentions a bit on this.

Here is another interesting site

This link tells that the aspartame found in sugar free drinks has been proven not to cause cancer.

While soda is quite unhealthy, I don't think it will actually CAUSE cancer.
There are a lot of factors that determine the formation of cancer... it's possible that if you consume excessive amounts of soda, you may harm your body in other ways that may eventually lead you to be more SUSCEPTIBLE to cancer.
But the sole cause? I don't believe so.

It makes you fat, feel bloated and fatigued. It can also make you addicted to the caffeine. Drink water instead of soda. There are many health benefits that are worth the change.
