Hi. I weigh 42 kilos and have excess tummy fat. Thats the only part of me that is not skinny. I need a healthy diet plan and a way to tone my abs [and get rid of the fat] before the school beach party, [In Week 9]. Any ideas? Much appreciated, Marielle.

Exercise more and cut down on excess food- try eating a balanced diet of protein, fat and carbs. Pilates and sit ups are excellent tummy reducers and low impact cardio is good too. Jogging at a low impact, swimming, etc... When your heart rate is low is when you are burning fat..

Best ways to get nice looking abs: 1. Cut out as much unhealthy food as possible. Fresh salads, fruits and vegetables go a long way. Cut out sodas, and if you must drink coffee, drink it black. Water is your friend. 2. Exercise to work those core muscle groups. This means sit ups (weighted preferably), crunches, back extensions, and half step marching. Weighted sit ups just means hugging a weight while doing your sit ups to give you extra resistance. Crunches are similar to sit ups, only half the movement and twice the speed: high crunches mean going all the way to the knees and reclining to a 45 degree angle on each rep, whereas low crunches you start at the ground and go up 45 degrees. Do these fast and you will really feel the burn. You can also sit on the edge of a free weights bench, and have someone hold your ankles while you lower yourself until your torso is perpendicular to the ground, and do your sit ups/crunches from there. Gravity works harder on you and the resistance is increased as a result. Back extensions are generally for strengthening your lower back, but also helps with the abs. If you do not have a back extension machine available to you, have a friend help strap weights to your upper back, and do crunches from an elevated position, but instead of going ground to up and back, go from up to nearly ground and back. Half step marching involves marching to a cadence in half step style. This means 15 inch (approx) steps, bringing your knees all the way up on each march. Do about 3 miles of these every other day and that will help tone your abs and trim away that belly fat. 3. Make sure you recover properly. Plenty of fluids, electrolytes, and protein. Your body is craving these things in your cool down mode. Hope it helps.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.
