because they do not worry about death because they have little controll over death they chose to concentrate on living which is some thing that people have a lot more controll of

I think there are two diifferent parts to your question. I think peopel build tall buildings, empires, great firtunes etc to leave behing a legacy, to show that they were once here.
I think they laugh, eat , drink, etc, simply because life is short that one should get in while they can. The Bible has the following passage: "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we shall die."
