Different people have different preferences. Some people even prefer deer meat from deer that eat different foods, kind of like honey, apple blossom, alfalfa, etc. I myself will say it's all in the way the deer is cleaned and cooked.

Thy are basically the same animal. There are three things that will diktat which one is the best. Where the deer is harvested, whether it is deep in the woods or near agriculture land. The one in the agriculture land will be the best. It has better food ,it dos not haft to work as hard to get the food. The secant one is taking care of the meat . Deer are among the same family line as cow,as they both chew there cud and should hang for at lest 10days to start the tenderizing proses. The dilemma is that it needs to be hanging in a walk in cooler at 34 f-36 f to insure that it will not spoil . The last is the cooking of the meat . Cook it to your taste , just remember to not over cook it . Over cooking will make it hard to eat.

Suzy, Mule deer venison and Whitetale venison is practically indistinguishable in taste. Age, sex and food source for deer is more of a factor.

Broadly speaking the Mule deer tends to yield more venison because it is a larger species. Of course, I've seen bigger Whitetail deer on occasion.

Hope that helped.

Both species are delicious if prepared right, most muleys have a kind of sagebrush flavor which can be eliminated by soaking the meat in buttermilk just prior to cooking. Cooling, processing and handling are all key factors of the quality of meat.

Basically they are the same. Meat quality is more a product of the animals diet and the handling or processing of said animal carcass prior to cooking.
