Philosophy is thinking about different possibilities behind the way the universe works, religion is hanging on to one and dismissing all others.
There are actually official government definitions for 'religion' (for census purposes, etc) which state that one must have a place of worship and there must be one central belief or philosophy

Technically, all religions are based upon some sort of philosophy about how the world functions, who we are, whether we have a purpose, etc, but religions also include some sort of divine or supernatural revelation as their source for their philosophy while classical philosophy relies soley on the intellect of man. In summary basic classical philosophy is a really a worldview where man determines his own "faith" without a supernatural of divine source, while religions are also philosophies but they rely not upon "man" but a supernatural or divine source for their "faith."

well, i believe that a religion is something in which many people believe. It is a quesion of faith. A philosophy can be judged wrong, while a religion is never wrong, you can share the idea or not, but no one can judge it wrong, because it all depends on faith
